This club features three outstanding hole courses The third course St Lucie West was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1998 Locals verify that these courses can intimidate the average player They were carved out of the natural landscape and the greens are well contoured The South Course opened in March 1996 and is a classic Florida design with tighter fairways and more water than the North Course There are enormous driving zones and massive multi fingered bunker complexes several of which creep up to lakes that border fairways and greens The South Course was selected to host the 21st PGA Cups Matches Feb 28 to March 2 2003 The North Course was selected 7th in the category of Best New Affordable Course for 1996 This Pinehurst style course features wetlands coming into play and several elevation changes but is considered much tamer than the newer course The North Course has more bunkers and rolling fairways than the South Course with big undulating greens for targets The club was fifth in the nation to receive the Audubon International Signature Award for environmental excellence Separate tees are available for handicapped golfers The St Lucie West Course has challenging water hazards that come into play on ten holes The fairways are narrow off the tees as are the landing areas A fourth eighteen hole course designed by Pete Dye is expected to be completed in June of 2000
